New principal selected for Lake Elmo Elementary
Katy Pupungatoa has been named as the new principal of Lake Elmo Elementary School, pending school board approval. She will be transitioning into this new role over the summer.
Pupungatoa has served as the assistant principal at both Lake Elmo and Brookview elementary schools this year, and is well-known by students, staff and families. During her 27-year career in the school district, she has also worked as an assistant principal and BARR coordinator at Stillwater Area High School and as a science teacher at Oak-Land Middle School.
Prior to joining Stillwater Area Public Schools, Pupongatoa taught science as part of the United States Peace Corps in Lapaha, Kingdom of Tonga.
“Katy is an amazing administrator with strong connections and deep relationships with our community,” said Dawn Waller Lueck, director of schools. “We are thrilled to have her step into this new role and lead Lake Elmo Elementary.”
