Behavior Expectations

Behavior Expectations

At Lake Elmo Elementary School, we believe that students learn better in an environment that is free from distractions. The following are basic behavior expectations for students at Lake Elmo School. When home and school work collaboratively, students have a positive school experience. Individual student needs and developmental levels will be taken into consideration as well as special needs. Classroom teachers, students and grade levels will further define behavioral expectations and will implement fair and reasonable consequences and/or rewards for appropriate behaviors in their room.

General Building Expectations:

Students are expected to:

  • Be courteous, polite and respectful of others.
  • Be at school on time with necessary materials and assignments. Students are to arrive at school no earlier than 8:35 am and to leave the school grounds at 3:15 p.m.
  • Show consideration and respect toward others and their learning.
  • Show respectful behavior in every situation (For instance walking and using inside voices in public areas; following adult directions and using appropriate assembly behavior).
  • Avoid the use of vulgar, profane and abusive language (no swearing).
  • Hand-held computerized games, skateboards, bicycles, rollerblades, cell phones and pagers are not permitted at school.
  • Radios, phones, and CDs are not to be brought to school. Students are discouraged from bringing valuable items, dolls, stuffed toys, trucks, robots, card collections or any similar items. If teachers wish such items to be brought to school, parents will be informed in writing.
